Bambu Lab has set November 3 as the sale date for its H3C 3D printer, a device designed to swap between nine different tools. The announcement, made on October 23, marks the end of speculation regarding the machine's configuration. The company released a brief promotional video showing a rack at the front of the chamber lowering into position. The clip includes a metallic click as the mechanism engages.

The H3C is designed to move quickly between different tool heads to print with multiple colors and materials. This method differs from the automatic material system currently found on many Bambu Lab printers. Industry observers view this type of tool changer as a way to produce parts with less wasted filament. The company has not released the full technical specifications for the machine. Details concerning the printer's speed, heating capabilities, and other performance metrics remain under wraps.

The new device belongs to the H-line of products, which already includes the H2S, H2D, and H2C. The H3C is most similar to the H2C, a printer equipped with seven tools and induction-heated nozzle swapping capabilities. The H2C also utilizes a motorized rack to hold tools that are not in use. That model offers a build volume measuring 330 by 320 by 325 millimeters.

The promotional video indicates that the tool rack sits above the build plate. This positioning keeps the view of the first layer of a print unobstructed during operation. Other tool-changing systems, such as the Bondtech INDX, can block the user's view of the print bed because the tool rack is located in front of the plate. The video shows nine Bowden tubes arching over the top of the printer, connecting to the tool heads.

The H2 line has been marketed as a home manufacturing hub capable of tasks beyond printing. The H3C may continue this trend. Bambu Lab has previously explored adding other functions to its devices. The A2L model offers an optional blade tool for cutting and embossing materials. The company has not detailed any additional functions for the H3C at this time.

Bambu Lab has not disclosed the pricing for the H3C. The company has also not confirmed whether the machine includes features found in other H-line products. The full set of specifications is expected to be released on November 3. The launch will determine if the device can compete with other multi-tool printers on the market.
